New York Islanders vs. Dallas Stars @NHLdotcom
Islanders-Stars Preview

GAME: New York Islanders (26-21-6-2) at Dallas Stars (27-20-9-0).

TIME: Wednesday, 8:30 p.m. EST.

The Dallas Stars are hoping to pick up right where they left off a week ago as they return from the All-Star break to host the New York Islanders.

Dallas, which was mediocre through the first three months of the season, caught fire prior to the break, going 8-1-1 in its last 10 games, including its current seven-game unbeaten streak (6-0-1).

The Stars went into the break following a 1-0 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets last Wednesday. Jason Arnott scored the lone goal and Marty Turco stopped 18 shots for his 17th career shutout.

Dallas has moved into fifth place in the Western Conference playoff race, a position it hopes to continue enhancing as the season resumes.

"We have to keep the pressure on," Stars center Pierre Turgeon said. "Every game for us is huge. What we did is in the past, we have to go forward."

Arnott has been one of the keys to Dallas' success this season. The Stars are 10-1-1 when he scores a goal.

The Stars have won 58 straight games when leading after two periods, a streak that goes back to Oct. 19, 2002. It's the longest in the NHL, but still 101 games short of Toronto's record set from 1960-65.

The Islanders returned from the break Tuesday night in Colorado, and came away with an impressive point after skating to a 1-1 tie with the Western Conference-leading Avalanche.

Rick DiPietro made 36 saves, including a pair of spectacular sprawling stops in regulation and overtime, as New York moved six points in front of Buffalo in the race for the eighth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot.

Mariusz Czerkawski scored the lone goal for the Islanders, who have just one regulation loss in their last eight games (4-1-2-1).
