ISLANDERS (1-2-1) AT SHARKS (1-2-0)

10:30 p.m. ET; NBCSCA, MSG+, NHL.TV

The Game

New York Islanders forward Jordan Eberle expects to play against the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center on Saturday after sustaining an upper-body injury in practice on Thursday. However, Islanders coach Doug Weight, who said tests revealed a pinched nerve but no structural damage, hadn't decided whether he would be in the lineup.

Forward Cal Clutterbuck (lower body) who has missed three games, also skated and will be a game time decision. Goaltender Thomas Greiss will make his third start.

Sharks backup goaltender Aaron Dell will make his first start of the season. He was 2-0-0 against the Islanders last season, allowing four goals on 51 shots.

Players to watch

Greiss, who played for the Sharks from 2007-13 is 1-1-0 with a 2.52 goals-against average and .922 save percentage in two career games against San Jose, each at SAP Center.

Sharks forward Tomas Hertl moved from third-line center to second line left wing in a 3-2 win against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday. He scored a goal and led San Jose in shots (five) and hits (five).

They said it

"I think we have two good goalies that we trust. When you have two guys that I feel very comfortable with and they're very confident and they've had good camps, why wouldn't you use that rested guy and then we'll keep making decisions as we go." -- Islanders coach Doug Weight on goaltenders Thomas Greiss and Jaroslav Halak

"I did get a little bit of a feel for it in a period and however long I played against L.A. Kind of got that little taste, a little bit of nerves out of the way." -- Sharks goaltender Aaron Dell, who stopped nine shots in relief of Martin Jones in a 4-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Oct. 7 and will make his first start this season.
