New York leads best-of-7 series, 3-1

The New York Islanders can advance to the Eastern Conference Final for the first time since 1993 with a win against the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Second Round at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Tuesday.
"The fourth win is always the toughest," Islanders coach Barry Trotz said. "It is the one that you have to go through. No one's going to give it to you. You can't go around it, you have to go through it. You've got to have that killer instinct."
The Flyers have tried to simplify their focus, knowing they can't win the series unless they win Game 5.
"We've got to get one game," defenseman Matt Niskanen said Monday. "You get one game, the tide starts turning and the pressure is flipped. Right now, it's all about Game 5 for us. We can get that one, hopefully we get the ball rolling in the right direction."
Teams trailing 3-1 are 29-285 (9.8 percent) winning a best-of-7 Stanley Cup Playoff series, including 0-7 this season.
Here are 3 keys for Game 5:

1. Lindblom an option?

Oskar Lindblom will skate during warmup for the second straight game, but Flyers coach Alain Vigneault said the forward is unlikely to play.
"Oskar is working extremely hard to get back to help our team," Vigneault said. "He will take warmup tonight, but I think we're still a few days away here. He's closing in."
Hinting that Lindblom could be close to playing for the first time since being diagnosed with a form of bone cancer in December could inject some extra motivation into his teammates.
"He's getting closer to coming back," forward Sean Couturier said after Game 4. "It's nice to have him around us. Such a great guy, and what he's been through, he's done a heck of a job just being positive and keeping a good attitude. Having that around us just reflects on us. We're excited to have him around."

2. Islanders raise their level

Despite a 3-2 win in Game 4, Trotz wasn't happy with the effort, calling it the worst game New York played in the postseason.
The Islanders allowed 38 shots on goal in Game 4, the most they have allowed this postseason, and had 12 giveaways.
"There's lots of things in our game that can be better," Trotz said. "I don't want to take anything away from the Philadelphia Flyers but there's stuff that's non-negotiable when it comes to playing for us and some of those non-negotiable things weren't executed. If we execute some of those things, you'll see we'd clean up our game a little bit and feel more comfortable with the way we play."

3. Flyers top players need their 'big-boy pants'

Claude Giroux and James van Riemsdyk are two of Philadelphia's longest-tenured players and key offensive contributors, but the forwards have combined for five points, all assists by Giroux, in 13 postseason games. Van Riemsdyk was scratched in four games.
Vigneault cited their roles in the Flyers coming back from down 3-0 against the Boston Bruins in the 2010 Eastern Conference Semifinals and their need to bring that veteran experience to Game 5.
"At that time, they were the ... kids but they definitely found a way to contribute," Vigneault said. "Now it's their turn to put the big-boy pants on. I'm looking at the [seven] teams in the playoffs, you're looking at their top lines and their production, I believe our guys have more to give and more to do. I'm not questioning their will and I'm not questioning their work ethic on the ice. They have to find a way to come through."
