Sharangovich nets 2 in a 6-2 win over the Coyotes

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Jesper Boqvist and Tomas Tatar scored 22 seconds apart late in the second period for the New Jersey Devils in a 6-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes at Gila River Arena on Tuesday.

Yegor Sharangovich had two goals and an assist, and Fabian Zetterlund and Kevin Bahl each scored his first NHL goal for the Devils (26-41-6), who won their second in a row after losing five straight. Nico Daws made 19 saves.
"Seeing somebody score their first NHL goal, I think that's kind of a dream come true for everyone," forward Nico Hischier said. "You'll remember that your whole life."

Nick Schmaltz had a goal and an assist for the Coyotes (23-46-5), who have lost four straight and 11 of 13 (2-10-1). Karel Vejmelka made 32 saves.
Coyotes forwards Nathan Smith and Jack McBain moved up from college hockey to make their NHL debuts.
"They worked hard, they competed. But I wanted a little bit more from our older guys, personally," Arizona coach Andre Tourigny said. "I want them more engaged. Our young guys need role models, and I felt our team worked but needed more of a push."
Smith played for the Coyotes three days after playing for Minnesota State in a 5-1 loss to Denver in the Frozen Four final. McBain played this season for Boston College.
Smith took one shot and played 20 shifts in 14:02. McBain played 24 shifts in 13:45. Each player was minus-1.
"It's a dream come true, but an unfortunate result," McBain said. "Obviously it's been different for us coming in from college, but the guys and the coaching staff have been great, making adjustments."
Schmaltz tied it 2-2 at 18:36 of the second period, the only goal for Arizona on its four power plays.
The Devils answered with four consecutive goals. Tatar scored 38 seconds later at 19:14 to make it 3-2. The Coyotes turned the puck over and Tatar's wrist shot from the left-wing boards got past Vejmelka, who was scrambling to get back to the net.

Boqvist made it 4-2 at 19:36 off a Janne Kuokkanen deflection, the third goal in a minute.
"We got rewarded for playing the game the right way," coach Lindy Ruff said. "We competed hard on pucks and got guys around the net and did all the things we talked about to make it hard on the opponent."
Zetterlund (goal, assist) moved up to top line with Hischier (three assists) and Sharangovich (two goals, assist), and they combined for eight points.
"Both wingers have a great shot and I like to set up plays and they got open for me," Hischier said. "It's just working out so far."
Sharangovich made it 5-2 at 15:36 and scored again at 17:05 for the 6-2 final.
"I think really liked the way Fabian's been playing with Nico and tonight really liked the way they played with him," Ruff said. "It's good to see them have success."

Travis Boyd scored 1:13 into the game for a 1-0 Coyotes lead. Zetterlund tied it 1-1 at 10:51 on a odd-man rush with Hischier.
"It was a great pass by Nico and an amazing feeling when I saw it go in," Zetterlund said.
Bahl's slap shot past a screened Vejmelka gave the Devils a 2-1 lead at 5:24 of the second.
"He doesn't smile hardly at all, but after he got it, he had the biggest smile," Ruff said.
Bahl was selected by Arizona in the second round (No. 55) of the 2018 NHL Draft before being traded to New Jersey in December 2019 in the Taylor Hall trade. He had an assist for his first NHL multi-point game.
