Neuvirth to start in Caps' goal Thursday

Washington Capitals coach Adam Oates told reporters Wednesday that goalie Michal Neuvirth will make his season debut Thursday when the Caps play host to the Montreal Canadiens.

Braden Holtby started Washington's first two games, allowing 10 goals on 73 shots in a 6-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday and a 4-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday.

Neuvirth, 24, went 13-13-5 in 38 games last season, with a 2.82 goals-against average, .903 save percentage and three shutouts.
