OTTAWA - Thomas Nesbitt scored three times including once into an empty net Sunday as the Ottawa 67's tamed the Niagara Ice Dogs 3-1 in Ontario Hockey League playoff action Sunday afternoon.
Chris Perugini made 36 saves including 16 in the final period to preserve the win for Ottawa.
Dylan MacEachern was the lone scorer for the IceDogs, while Mark Visentin stopped 31 shots.
"We were really excited and we're going to pat ourselves on the back for just a couple more minutes here but as soon as we leave the rink it's back to 0-0 in the series," Nesbitt said.
"Both games have been real tight and they came real close to coming back in the third period here today so we have to give them a lot of credit. We have to work hard in Niagara."
The win gives the 67's a 2-0 series lead in the best-of-seven Ontario Hockey League Eastern Conference quarterfinal. Games 3 and 4 are in St. Catherines on Tuesday and Thursday.
The Ice Dogs we're 1-for-4 on the power play and the 67's were held off the scoresheet during their one man-advantage opportunity.
