WINDSOR, Ont. - Greg Nemisz scored his 19th goal of the season while Andrew Engelage stopped 36 shots as the Windsor Spitfires edged the Plymouth Whalers 1-0 in OHL action Wednesday afternoon.
The shutout was Engelage's league-leading fifth of the season.
Nemisz scored the game's lone goal on the power play nearly eight minutes into the first period. Defenceman Rob Kwiet earned his 23rd power-play assist when he feathered a pass at the top of the offensive zone to Nemisz, who walked in and blasted a slapshot past former Spitfire netminder Matt Hackett.
Both teams played the game without many key players.
The Spitfires were without defenceman Ryan Ellis, who is playing with Canada's national junior team. Missing for the Whalers is defenceman Michal Jordan (Czech Republic, world junior tournament) and centre Tyler Seguin (Team Ontario at '09 World Hockey Challenge in B.C.).
Plymouth captain Chris Terry remains sidelined with an upper body injury.
Hackett stopped 36 shots in a losing cause.
