WINDSOR, Ont. - Greg Nemisz and rookies Taylor Hall and Andrew Yogan each scored twice as the Windsor Spitfires hammered the Erie Otters 10-3 Friday in the opening game of the Ontario Hockey League season for both teams.
Matthew Bragg, Josh Bailey, Adam Henrique and Marek Biro added singles for the Spitfires.
Mitch Gauldon and Ronny Rogers replied for the Otters.
Windsor outshot Erie 68-33, with Andrew Engelage starting and finishing in net for the Spitfires. Jaroslav Janus started for the Otters before being replaced by Justin Garay after Windsor's seventh goal with nine minutes left in the game.
The game also featured the top two picks of the 2007 OHL Priority Selection. The first pick overall, centre Ryan O'Reilley of the Otters, scored a goal, though he was upstaged by Hall, the second overall pick.
"I'm certainly pleased with the effort and the end result," said Spits head coach Bob Boughner. "Hopefully we can make the Windsor Arena a tough place for opposing teams to win in this season."
The game kicked off what is scheduled to be the last full season for the Spitfires at the venerable Windsor Arena. The team is scheduled to move to their new home, the Windsor Family Credit Union Centre, which is scheduled to open in December of 2008.
