Neiderreiter scores twice as Portland Winterhawks double Seattle 6-3 @NHLdotcom

PORTLAND, Ore. - Nino Neiderreiter had a pair of goals to lead the Portland Winterhawks over the Seattle Thunderbirds 6-3 in Western Hockey League play on Friday night.

Ty Rattie, Luca Sbisa, Ryan Johansen, and Stefan Schneider also scored for Portland (33-20-3). Mac Carruth stopped 18 shots.

Neiderreiter and Sbisa both scored on the power play and Schneider into an empty net, as Portland was two for five on the power play.

Prab Rai scored short-handed and Jeremy Schappert scored on the power play as Seattle (14-30-9). Charles Wells scored the other goal for Seattle. Thunderbirds goalie Calvin Pickard made 40 saves.

Portland recognized the Portland Buckaroos and had the Lester Patrick Cup on hand to celebrate the last time the cup was in Portland.
