Needham scores two power-play goals as Blazers defeat Everett 5-2 @NHLdotcom

EVERETT, Wash. - Matt Needham scored two power-play goals late in the second period, leading the Kamloops Blazers to a 5-2 victory over the Everett Silvertips on Saturday night in Western Hockey League action.

Kamloops trailed 2-1 late in the second. But Needham, a 16-year-old rookie, scored on a rebound at 17:02 to tie it, then one-timed home Colin Smith's feed with 7.7 seconds remaining to give the Blazers the lead for good.

Dylan Willick also scored twice and Jordan DePape added an empty-net goal for Kamloops (4-1-0), which won its fourth straight. Cole Chevaldave earned the win in goal with 17 saves.

Jesse Mychan and Josh Birkholz scored for Everett (1-2-2). Kent Simpson made 33 saves in net for the Silvertips.
