Neal out of world championship with eye injury; Vlasic added to roster @NHLdotcom

DUBENDORF, Switzerland - The IIHF World Hockey Championship is over for James Neal.

The Canadian forward suffered cuts above and below his left eye after getting high-sticked by Ladislav Nagy during Canada's 7-3 victory over Slovakia on Tuesday night. He was taken directly to hospital and stitched up, but was able to return to the team hotel afterwards.

The 21-year-old Dallas Stars forward is expected to make a full recovery.

His injury leaves room for Doug Armstrong to add two more forwards to the roster and the Canadian GM was hoping to have those spots filled by the end of the day.

Armstrong has already made one addition to his blue-line. San Jose Sharks defenceman Marc-Edouard Vlasic will join the team later in the week.
