The Colorado Avalanche gave one military family a surprise from a galaxy far, far away on Star Wars Night.

Navy chief petty officer William Doyle surprised his family during a game of "Guess the Star Wars character" during the first period of Colorado's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Pepsi Center on Saturday.

After the Doyle children successfully guessed the first two characters, William appeared in a Jedi costume as the final character. When William's son Grant guessed "Skywalker," he took off his hood to reveal himself to his family.
Doyle, who had been serving in Africa for the past 11 months, was mobbed by his three kids and the crowd in Denver gave the family a standing ovation.
"He's an [Avalanche fan], and I knew .. that he was coming home, and I couldn't think of a better way for the kids to never, ever forget it," William's wife Jill told the Denver Post. "I typed a simple email to the Avalanche, and they responded really quick."
