Nattinen scores winner and adds assist, leads Bulldogs over IceHogs 3-1 @NHLdotcom

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Joonas Nattinen scored the winning goal and added an assist as the Hamilton Bulldogs beat the Rockford IceHogs 3-1 in American Hockey League action Tuesday.

Brian Willsie had a goal and an assist and Gabriel Dumont also scored for Hamilton (28-29-7).

Jeremy Morin replied for Rockford (29-29-7).

Robert Mayer made 35 saves for Hamilton, while Carter Hutton stopped 16 shots for Rockford.

Hamilton took a 1-0 lead midway through the first period when Willsie's one-timer from the face-off circle beat Hutton.

Nattinen made it 2-0 for the Bulldogs when he scored his ninth of the season on a power play 5:05 into the second period.

The IceHogs capitalized on a 5-on-3 power play opportunity midway through the second period as Morin scored his fifth of the season to cut the Bulldogs' lead to 2-1.

The IceHogs and Bulldogs battled hard during the third period, but Dumont sealed Hamilton?s victory with an empty net short-handed goal, making it a 3-1 final.

The chippy game featured 16 minor penalties. Hamilton was 1-for-5 on the power play while Rockford was 1-for-7.
