MacKinnon fined for actions in Avalanche game vs. Coyotes

Center assessed $5,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct against forward Garland

NEW YORK - Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for unsportsmanlike conduct against Arizona Coyotes forward Conor Garland during NHL Game No. 209 in Colorado on Wednesday, March 31, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 14:41 of the third period. MacKinnon was assessed a 10-minute misconduct.

The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
