GAME: Nashville Predators (16-13-4-2) at San Jose Sharks (13-9-11-3).
TIME: Monday, 10:30 p.m. EST.
The San Jose Sharks aren't just playing well at home. They are dominating.
San Jose tries to extend a franchise-record, 10-game home unbeaten streak
when the Nashville Predators visit HP Pavilion for the final time this season.
The Sharks are 6-0-4 in their last 10 home games and have been particularly
strong there lately, outscoring opponents 9-1 during three straight wins.
After routing the Kings 5-0 at home on Friday in the front end of a
home-and-home series, San Jose wasn't at its best the next night in Los Angles,
but managed to come away with a 4-4 tie.
Vincent Damphousse had his best game of the season with two goals and an
assist for the Sharks, unbeaten in four straight overall (3-0-1).
"We've got to be a little disappointed with tonight's game," Damphousse
said. "We could have played better and finished with another win, but three
points out of four is good. We're still tied for first place. But the way we
started, we expected to win."
Center Patrick Marleau and goalie Evgeni Nabokov have been the main
catalysts during San Jose's current stretch.
Marleau has eight goals and 10 points in the last 10 games. Nabokov is 5-1-2
in his past eight decisions while allowing just 11 goals.
Nashville has cooled off lately, but is coming off a 3-1 victory at Phoenix
Scott Walker had a goal and two assists and Tomas Vokoun made 32 saves for
the Predators, 2-3-3-2 since their franchise-record, six-game win streak ended
Dec. 6 at St. Louis.
Vokoun's victory was the 80th of his career, leaving him one shy of Mike
Dunham's team record.
"He's unbelievable right now," Predators forward Martin Erat said. "He's
making great stops for us and that's what helps us win. We've been playing
stronger in front of him and trying to score a couple of goals because we know
he's not going to let bad goals in."
Since returning from a groin injury that sidelined him for six games, Walker
has been Nashville's most productive player with eight goals and four assists
in 15 contests.
