Sanford-Signing3

Nashville, Tenn. (July 15, 2022) - Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the team has signed forward Zach Sanford to a one-year, $850,000 contract.

Sanford, 27 (11/9/94), split the 2021-22 campaign between Ottawa and Winnipeg after spending the previous three seasons with St. Louis, where he won the Stanley Cup in 2019. The 6-foot-4, 206-pound left wing began last season with the Senators and tallied 17 points (9g-8a) in 62 games before he was acquired by the Jets at the trade deadline. In 18 games with Winnipeg, he recorded four assists and dished out 38 hits to bolster his season total to a career-high 169; he also blocked a career-best 67 shots.
Originally drafted by the Washington Capitals in the second round (61st overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Sanford is a veteran of 289 NHL games since making his League debut in 2016-17. During St. Louis' run to the 2019 Stanley Cup, he established career highs in goals (16), assists (14) and points (30) during the regular season and went on to add four points (1g-3a) - all coming in the Stanley Cup Final against Boston - in eight postseason appearances. Prior to turning pro, the Salem, Mass., native played two seasons for Boston College, leading the Eagles in assists (26) during his sophomore campaign.
