NSH@CHI: Blackhawks score three in 3rd, win it in OT

CHICAGO -- Brandon Hagel scored at 3:00 of overtime to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 5-4 comeback win against the Nashville Predators at United Center on Wednesday.

Hagel skated around Predators forward Mikael Granlund and scored top shelf for the Blackhawks (22-20-5), who scored three goals in a span of 2:51 in the third period to tie the game.
"It felt pretty good just to get the win in general," Hagel said. "We battled and battled, and it ended up paying off for us tonight."
Hagel had a goal and two assists, Vinnie Hinostroza and Pius Suter each had a goal and an assist, and Malcolm Subban made 36 saves for Chicago, which won its first game against Nashville this season (1-4-2).
"Gutsy comeback," Blackhawks coach Jeremy Colliton said. "We put ourselves in a pretty big hole, obviously in a big game, but we stuck with it, didn't give up, so definitely proud of that response."

Granlund had a goal and an assist, and Juuse Saros made 25 saves for the Predators (25-21-2).
"You know they're a good rush team, they get time and space, they're going to be able to make plays," Nashville coach John Hynes said. "We weren't stiff enough in that area with the structure or commitment that we need to play with in that area."
The teams play the last of the three-game set here Friday. The Predators won 5-2 in Nashville on Monday.
Nashville is in fourth place in the eight-team Discover Central Division, two points ahead of the Dallas Stars, who have three games in hand. Chicago is sixth, three points behind Nashville. The top four teams will qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
"We did get one point out of the game, we did a lot of good things in the game," Hynes said. "We certainly played a good game. We had a stretch in the third period where it looks like we let our foot off the gas a little bit, and that's something you can't do against any team.
"You have to take the point out of it, you have to take the lessons out of why we gave up the lead the way that we did, and there's a lot of good things in the game you come back to."

Luke Kunin scored on a tap-in 58 seconds into the third period to give the Predators a 4-1 lead.
Wyatt Kalynuk cut it to 4-2 at 10:04 when he tapped in Patrick Kane's backdoor pass, Hinostroza made it 4-3 at 11:13 with a tap-in for his first goal this season, and Dominik Kubalik tied it 4-4 at 12:55.
"We never gave up. We came back, and if you want to be a playoff team you have to win some games like that," Hinostroza said. "It just shows the character we have in the locker room. Every guy on our team battled today and made plays they needed to in the third. That was the difference."
Hagel forced a turnover by Predators defenseman Roman Josi at the point and made a saucer pass on the rush to Suter, who gave Chicago a 1-0 lead at 4:14 of the first period.
Eeli Tolvanen tied it 1-1 at 14:16 when he scored at the top of the crease off Viktor Arvidsson's pass behind the net. Tolvanen returned after missing seven games with a lower-body injury.
"We had a pretty tough start," Tolvanen said. "We got a lucky goal. It was a good play by [Arvidsson] and I pretty much got an empty net."
Colton Sissons gave the Predators a 2-1 lead at 13:39 of the second period after he skated between two Chicago defenders to get to a loose puck.
Granlund extended the lead to 3-1 at 19:58 when he scored from the left face-off circle.
NOTES:Blackhawks defenseman Calvin de Haan left after the first period with a right hip injury. Colliton did not provide an update. … Hagel is the second Blackhawks rookie with multiple overtime goals (Brent Seabrook, two, 2005-06). He scored at 1:25 to defeat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3 on April 12. … The Blackhawks rallied from at least three goals down in the third period to win for the first time since Nov. 19, 2016, a 4-3 overtime win against the Vancouver Canucks. … Chicago defenseman Adam Boqvist was plus-2 in 17:40 of ice time after missing three games with a concussion. … Kane had an assist and has scored nine points (two goals, seven assists) in the past eight games. … Predators forward Ryan Johansen had an assist in his 700th NHL game. … Nashville was 0-for-2 on the power play and is 0-for-21 in its past eight games. Chicago is 15-for-15 on the penalty kill in its past six games.
