SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - Matt Murray stopped 33 shots as the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds won their third straight Ontario Hockey League game Wednesday, 3-1 over the Saginaw Spirit.
Murray is taking over the Greyhounds' goaltending duties while Jack Campbell is with the United States' junior team.
Brandon Alderson, Corey Durocher and Michael Schumacher scored for the Greyhounds while Nick Cousins picked up a pair of assists.
Anthony Camara scored the lone goal for the Spirit.
Goaltender Jake Paterson stopped 22 shots for the Spirit (13-18-2).
The winning streak, which also included weekend wins over Ottawa and Oshawa, comes on the heels of an eight-game losing skid for the Greyhounds (17-14-3).
The game also marked the debut of Greg Gilbert behind the Saginaw bench. Gilbert was officially introduced as the new coach on Monday after the Spirit relieved Todd Watson of his duties as coach and general manager over the weekend.
