ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -Bob Murray has been hired as general manager of the Anaheim Ducks after Brian Burke declined a contract extension.
Murray has spent the last three-plus seasons with the Ducks. They have made the playoffs in each of those seasons, including a Stanley Cup title in 2007.
The Ducks also announced Wednesday that Burke has been appointed special consultant to chief executive officer Michael Schulman.
Schulman said Burke declined an extension last week, and he agreed with Schulman that Murray was an obvious successor. Murray will also carry the title of executive vice president.
