Murphy sets up four goals as the Rangers defeat the Generals 6-2 @NHLdotcom

KITCHENER, Ont. - Ryan Murphy set up four of his club's goals as the Kitchener Rangers defeated the visiting Oshawa Generals 6-2 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League play.

Matia Marcantuoni and Eric Ming each scored twice for the Rangers (4-4-1) while Matt Puempel and Ben Thomson scored one goal apiece.

Tyler Biggs and Lucas Lessio scored for the Generals (7-3-1).

Kitchener's John Gibson stopped 30 shots for the win while Oshawa?s Daniel Altshuller turned aside 26-of-31 shots before getting pulled early in the third period. Ken Appleby stopped 8-of-9 shots in relief.

Both clubs went 1-for-7 on the power play.

After Biggs gave his team the lead 56 seconds into the game, the Rangers scored four unanswered goals.

Puempel scored his seventh goal in nine games on the power play, before Marcantuoni gave Kitchener the lead with a shorthanded goal.

Ming and Thomson then scored 22 seconds apart early in the second period to give the Rangers their largest offensive output so far this season.

The Generals cut the lead in half when Lessio scored a power-play goal.

Ming and Marcantuoni both scored their second goals of the game in the third period to end the scoring.
