Murovich scores two goals, adds two assists as Saginaw holds on to beat Erie 6-4

SAGINAW, Mich. - Tyler Murovich had two goals and two assists for Saginaw as the Spirit jumped out to a 4-0 lead before having to hold on to beat the Erie Otters 6-4 in OHL action Friday.

Joe Pleckaitis chipped in with three assists for Saginaw. Brandon Biggers had two goals and an assist for Erie, while Justin Hodgman and Luke Gazdic added singles.

Nick Crawford, Ryan Schnell and Cody Sol on the power play scored first period goals to pace Saginaw (31-20-2-4) to a 3-0 lead. Murovich scored his first goal 54 seconds into the second period to give the Spirit what seemed to be a comfortable 4-0 lead.

Erie (29-26-2-1) made a game of it by scoring three times with less then five minutes in the second period when Biggers scored twice and Gazdic added one.

The Spirit got back on track with Murovich's second of the night in the final minute to secure a 5-3 lead after 40 minutes.

Erie tightened things up again at 12:12 of the third period as Hodgman buried a shot behind goaltender Edward Pasqulae, who made 46 saves.

T. J. Brodie settled things with an empty-net goal for the Spirit with 45 seconds left to ice the win.
