Mr. Hockey calls Team Canada 'strong' group of players, hopes for Olympic win @NHLdotcom

SASKATOON - The man known as "Mr. Hockey" says he believes Team Canada can bring home the gold at the Vancouver Olympics.

Hockey legend Gordie Howe says he saw Team Canada in practice and called it a strong group of players. Howe says the team has some elderly statesmen who have been around the game for a while, and that wealth of experience could rub off on the younger players.

Howe, who was in Saskatoon for a celebrity sports dinner with Wayne Gretzky, says he's too old to skate for Team Canada but jokes that maybe the team can win without him.

He certainly hopes they will do well.

But Howe cautions that if the team can't win the gold medal, they should be respected for the effort they put in.
