Morrow has winner as Portland Winterhawks defeat Chilliwack Bruins 3-1 @NHLdotcom

PORTLAND, Ore. - Joe Morrow got his second goal of the year and it proved to be the game winner as the Portland Winterhawks defeated the Chilliwack Bruins 3-1 in Western Hockey League play on Saturday night.

Morrow fired a slap shot over the goalie at 11:46 of the first period. Portland (26-16-2) also got goals from Chris Francis and Nino Neiderreiter.

Kevin Sundher scored the only goal for Chilliwack (20-19-6).

Neiderreiter, in his first game back from the World Junior Championship, got his 23rd of the year in the third to seal the win.

Neither team was effective on the power play, as both teams were 0-7 with the man advantage.

Bruins goalie Lucas Gore made 28 saves, while Ian Curtis stopped 32 shots.
