Mike Hoffman sends Senators past Canadiens

Forward scores 19 seconds into overtime for win @NHL

Forward Mike Hoffman scored with 4:41 left in overtime to give the Ottawa Senators a 4-3 win against the Montreal Canadiens in a preseason game at Bell Centre on Thursday.

Hoffman also scored at 7:26 of the second period to give the Senators a 3-2 lead. Forward Bobby Ryan had a goal and an assist for Ottawa.

Brendan Gallagher, Michael McCarron and Zach Redmond scored, and goalie Mike Condon made 17 saves for Montreal.

Canadiens defenseman Mikhail Sergachev, the No. 9 pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, had an assist on Gallagher's power-play goal at 5:24 of the second period.

Montreal outshot Ottawa 40-21.
