Montreal Canadiens add Randy Cunneyworth, Randy Ladouceur to coaching staff @NHL

MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens added Randy Cunneyworth and Randy Ladouceur to the team's coaching staff Friday.

Cunneyworth was the head coach of the Canadiens' American Hockey League affiliate in Hamilton last season, with Ladouceur serving as his assistant.

The Bulldogs won the North Division championship with a 44-27-9 record, reaching the Western Conference final.

"(Cunneyworth and Ladouceur) did a tremendous job in their first year with the Hamilton Bulldogs last season," Habs general manager Pierre Gauthier said in a statement. "Their experience, dedication and hard work will inevitably contribute to the development of our young players which is a key factor to the success of our team."

Cunneyworth was an assistant coach with the Atlanta Thrashers for two seasons (2008-09 and 2009-10) after nine seasons with the AHL's Rochester Americans.

The Toronto native played 15 seasons in the NHL with Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Winnipeg, Hartford, Chicago and Ottawa.

Cunneyworth registered 414 points (189 goals, 225 assists) in 866 regular-season games. He served as the Ottawa Senators captain for four seasons (1994-98) and reached the Stanley Cup final with the Sabres in 1999.

Ladouceur began his coaching career as an assistant with the Hartford Whalers in 1996-97. The franchise then moved to Carolina, where he served for the next seven seasons as an assistant coach with the Hurricanes.

Following a full season as head coach of the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League in 2005-06, the Brockville, Ont., native joined the Toronto Maple Leafs coaching staff as an assistant for two seasons. Ladouceur was assistant coach with the Ontario Hockey League's Niagara IceDogs in 2009-10.

Ladouceur played 14 seasons in the NHL. The giant defenceman suited up for a total of 931 career regular-season games with the Detroit, Hartford and Anaheim, registering 156 points (30 goals, 126 assists).

Clement Jodoin will take over for Cunneyworth in Hamilton, the Canadiens also announced Friday. He'll coach their AHL affiliate after four seasons with the QMJHL's Rimouski Oceanic.

Jodoin previously worked in the Canadiens organization. He spent six seasons between 1997 and 2003 in various positions within the hockey department, including assistant coach during the 2002-03 season.
