Montgomery, Philp score to help Kootenay Ice edge Medicine Hat Tigers 2-1 @NHLdotcom

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. - Brock Montgomery and Luke Philp scored to help the Kootenay Ice edge the Medicine Hat Tigers 2-1 in Western Hockey League play Wednesday.

Montgomery and Philp each scored in the second period, while Nathan Lieuwen did his part in net with 21 saves for the Ice (36-23-8).

Emerson Etem scored in the final minute of regulation for the Tigers (40-22-5). Etem leads the WHL with 56 goals this season.

Tyler Bunz meanwhile stopped 30 shots.

Both teams meet again Friday in Cranbrook, B.C.
