SAINT JOHN, N.B. - Mike Hoffman scored three goals and the Saint John Sea Dogs advanced to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League final with a decisive 7-1 win over the Victoriaville Tigres on Monday.
The Sea Dogs, who finished with the best regular-season record in the QMJHL, defeated the Tigres in six games and will face the Moncton Wildcats for the league title and a Memorial Cup berth.
Simon Despres had a goal and two assists for the Sea Dogs, while Nicholas Petersen, Jonathan Huberdeau and Tomas Jurco also scored.
Andrej Nestrasil replied for Victoriaville.
Marco Cousineau and Karel St-Laurent combined for 31 saves for Saint John.
Kevin Poulin stopped 25 shots for Victoriaville.
