Monahan scores twice to lead the 67's over the Generals 5-3

OSHAWA, Ont. - Sean Monahan scored twice as the Ottawa 67's defeated the Oshawa Generals 5-3 on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Tyler Toffoli, Jake Cardwell and Ben Dubois also scored for Ottawa (20-9-5).

Mark Petaccio had two goals to lead Oshawa's (13-18-4) offence while Scott Laughton chipped in a single.

Michael Nishi made 38 saves for the win as Kevin Baillie allowed two goals against on five shots before being pulled midway through the first period.

Daniel Altshuller came on in relief and made 22 saves but picked up the loss.

Neither team had any production from their power play as the 67's went 0-for-4 and the Generals 0-for-5.

Heading into the holiday break Ottawa sits first in the OHL Eastern Conference, one point ahead of the Brampton Battalion.
