Modano may keep playing, maybe not in Dallas

DALLAS (AP) -A few weeks after turning 40, Mike Modano is thinking about continuing his NHL career. One problem: He might have to find a new team.

The Dallas Stars aren't sure they want Modano back for a 21st season, which he says is a clear sign he should start looking around. He becomes a free agent July 1.

Modano holds every significant offensive record in club history and is the top American-born scorer in NHL history. He's remained in shape in case he decides to play again. He said Wednesday that a change of scenery "certainly would be a lot of motivation."

Modano also is part of a group that's trying to buy the Stars. Asked whether he'd rather play for the Stars or own them, Modano picked ownership.
