Parise 11.16.18

ST. PAUL --After battling a brief illness he hypothesized originated with one of his kids, Wild winger Zach Parise said he'll "be ready to go" when Minnesota hosts the Buffalo Sabres at 5 p.m. Saturday at Xcel Energy Center.

"Each one of them were sick last week," Parise said of his three youngsters. "I figured it was just a matter of time. Unfortunately, it happened on a game day."

Parise watched Minnesota's 6-2 drubbing of Vancouver from home Thursday. He was a full go during practice Friday at TRIA Rink at Treasure Island Center and said he doesn't expect any limitations in a weekend back-to-back that concludes Sunday in Chicago.
"He's feeling fine this morning, so I assume we're not sitting him Saturday]," coach Bruce Boudreau said.

It'll be a welcome return to the rink for a player who missed 53 games from 2016-18 due to a nagging back injury that eventually required surgery but looks every bit of his old self so far this season. Parise's seven goals and nine assists have him tied with Mikko Koivu for second on the team in points.
"Unfortunately, the last couple years, I've been kind of used to [watching his teammates play without him]," Parise said. "It's always a weird feeling being home watching the guys. You look at the clock, you kind of know what you should be doing at that time and getting ready for the game. It's never fun being home watching."
