Nino-Niederreiter

SAN JOSE -- Nino Niederreiter scored at 3:26 of overtime to give the Minnesota Wild a 4-3 win against the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center on Sunday.
Eric Staal scored two goals and Alex Stalock made 31 saves for Minnesota (15-11-3) in his first game against his former team. Ryan Murphy also scored for the Wild, who won for the fourth time in their past five games.

"As soon as I lost the puck I was kind of frustrated with myself, but they gave it right back to me," said Niederreiter, who capitalized on a turnover by San Jose defensman Dylan DeMelo. "I was happy to shoot that puck right away."
Brent Burns scored two power-play goals for the Sharks (16-10-3), who rallied to force overtime after trailing 3-0 in the second period. Tomas Hertl also scored, and Martin Jones made 20 saves.
"The resiliency is probably what catches my attention more than giving up the lead," Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said. "It was two power play goals and we were killing penalties after penalties. We did face a barrage in the third period, but I think we stuck to what we were supposed to do for the most part, and it came out positive."
Burns scored a 5-on-3 power play goal at 19:07 of the second period, beating Stalock with a one-timer from the left circle. He made it 3-2 at 2:41 of the third with another power-play goal, this time from the high slot.
Hertl made it 3-3 at 14:59 of the third period when he knocked in a rebound from close range.

Stalock played parts of five seasons with San Jose before being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Feb. 26, 2016. He signed with the Wild as a free agent on July 1, 2016.
"Unreal," Stalock said of the victory. "Just the whole deal, playing (against) an old team. I'd never done that. A lot of good friends. To get two points is pretty special."
Stalock faced 15 shots in the third period and one more in overtime, when he stopped Joe Pavelski's backhand from the slot.
"He's a competitor," Staal said of Stalock. "You love playing in front of a guy like him. He competes every day in practice, he competes every game. He's talking out there. He fought hard. It was nice to be able to get the win for him, but he made some big saves.
"He made a lot of scramble saves. They were really attacking. When they get humming and they get shooting from the point, it's difficult. He needed to be real solid for us, and he was."
The Sharks rallied from 3-0 and 4-1 to defeat the Carolina Hurricanes 5-4 in overtime on Thursday.
"We don't have any doubt we can work ourselves back," Burns said. "It's not easy, but we don't have that doubt."
Murphy gave the Wild a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at 4:19 of the first period. It was Murphy's first goal since Aug. 9, 2015, with the Hurricanes.

The Wild extended their lead to 2-0 at 10:27 of the first period on Staal's tap-in, and Staal made it 3-0 on a wraparound at 4:58 of the second period.
But the Sharks didn't fold.
"We have a resilient group, a confident group," San Jose coach Peter DeBoer said. "It was a gutsy effort by us. Our sixth game in 10 nights, including traveling back from the East last week. It's back-to-backs against a team that was rested and waiting for us."

They said it

"I thought it was a great character win. And to win for Alex [Stalock], I think guys were really working hard to get that for him. Had a little bit of bad luck where they caught up, but in the end I think they're all pretty happy." -- Wild coach Bruce Boudreau
"Five out of six points on the homestand is good. We would have liked to get the sixth point there, but we did a good job to fight back. We dug deep, went down to three lines there in the third period. We knew we had three days off coming up here and everyone gave everything they've got." -- Sharks forward Logan Couture
