Patrick-Kane

CHICAGO --Patrick Kane scored two goals to help the Chicago Blackhawks defeat the Minnesota Wild 4-1 at United Center on Sunday for their fifth straight win.
"We had an ordinary start for a few minutes there and then we settled down nicely," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said. "Better than we've seen maybe all year, for the most minutes."

Chicago (17-11-5) had lost its previous five (0-3-2) prior to the winning streak.
Kane, who extended his scoring streak to four games (four goals, three assists), moved into fifth all-time in Blackhawks history with 299 goals, surpassing Dennis Hull (298).

"It's one of those things, you're going to pass some people when you're playing a lot of games and playing a lot of seasons," Kane said. "I've been very fortunate to play with a lot of great players, some great coaches that have been here, great organization. It's definitely humbling."
Corey Crawford made 27 saves and hasn't lost in regulation since Nov. 12 (9-0-2).
Matt Dumba scored and Alex Stalock made 42 saves for Minnesota (17-13-3), which lost its second consecutive game after winning four straight.

"You can't take six penalties and win," Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said. "It's an impossibility. We're trying to use the third and fourth line basically to kill penalties to save our other guys but it's still hard when you're killing all those penalties and you're trying to get into a rhythm of the game."
Kane scored his first goal at 10:56 of the first period when he buried a cross-ice one-timer from Nick Schmaltz to make it 1-0. He has scored goals in three straight games.
Kane scored his second at 15:36 of the second period to give the Blackhawks a 2-0 lead. He received a tape-to-tape stretch pass from Jordan Oesterle and took a wrist shot five-hole on a breakaway.
"Great plays by both of them," Kane said. "You come to expect that from [Schmaltz] now; that's a great pass cross-ice, just try to get it on net on the one-timer. And then fortunate enough to be coming off the bench there with some speed and [Oesterle] made a great pass that was hard, it was flat, it was right on my tape skating into it with a lot of speed. Great play by him too."
Ryan Hartman gave the Blackhawks a 3-0 lead when he drove to the net and roofed a shot past Stalock's right shoulder at 1:41 of the third period.
"He made a good save on me right before that and [I was] just taking the puck to the net," Hartman said. "He was low to poke check and I just got it over his right shoulder."
Dumba scored at 5:56 of the third. His slap shot got through a screened Crawford to make it 3-1. He has six goals this season, including three in his past two games.
Tommy Wingels scored a shorthanded empty-net goal at 16:00 to make it 4-1. He has four goals in his past five games.
"We've played some good hockey," Kane said. "I think we've been fortunate enough to get some wins but we found ways to win. Our last two games, you've got to be happy with the way we played those against some divisional opponents, good teams, so hopefully we're trending in the right direction here."

They said it

"Frustration is the most useless emotion you can have. It does nothing but hurt you. We've got to get away from the frustration and feeling bad for ourselves and start getting back to the way we can play." -- Wild coach Bruce Boudreau
"We've been putting together some good periods and good shifts, shift after shift, creating momentum. The power play looks good. We're getting a lot of chances and obviously the penalty kill looks good. It's looked good all year. Special teams helps with that momentum and all around, 5-on-5, we've had the puck a lot more. We've been looking good." -- Blackhawks forward Ryan Hartman
