Ryan Miller, Canucks shut out Flames

Goalie makes 35 saves; Loui Eriksson scores twice in Vancouver debut

Ryan Miller made 35 saves, including 19 in the third period, and Loui Eriksson scored two goals to lift the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-0 preseason win against the Calgary Flames at Rogers Arena on Thursday.

Brandon Sutter and Jake Virtanen scored in the first period. Eriksson made it 3-0 at 11:43 of the second, and then got his second goal at 13:28 of the third in his debut with Vancouver after signing as an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Flames goalie Chad Johnson made 22 saves.

Calgary center Sean Monahan played 15:40 in his preseason debut. He withdrew from Team North America for the World Cup of Hockey 2016 on Sept. 2 because of a back strain.
