Mike Richards' court case remanded to December @NHLdotcom

The court case involving former Los Angeles Kings center Mike Richards was continued until Dec. 8, according to the Winnipeg Free Press.

Richards, 30, faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance while entering Canada. His first court date was Thursday, but it was remanded. Richards, who was not present, did not enter a plea.

The Kings terminated Richards' contract June 29, for a "material breach of the requirements of his contract." The National Hockey League Players' Association filed a grievance regarding the termination of the contract on behalf of Richards on Aug. 10.

No date for that grievance, which would be contested before an independent arbitrator, has been set.
