Mike Fisher marries Carrie Underwood @NHL
Mike Fisher had quite a weekend. The Ottawa Senators winger was married to country singer Carrie Underwood Saturday evening at a resort in Greensboro, Ga.

Security around the ceremony was tight as some 250 guests attended the wedding according to the Ottawa Sun.

The Sun reports that current Senators Chris Phillips, Shean Donovan, Nick Foligno and Chris Neil were in attendance, as well as current New York Rangers defenseman Wade Redden, Fisher's former teammate with the Senators. Luminaries from the country music world also attended, including Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.

"We could not feel more blessed to have found each other and to have shared this day with our friends and family that mean so much to us!" the couple told People Magazine in a statement, signing their names "Mike & Carrie Fisher."

According to the Sun, the wedding site the Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation, was chosen not only for its glitz, but also its seclusion. The waterfront property on Lake Oconee is about a two-hour drive from Atlanta and has basically one road going in or out. The Sun reported the entire facility was booked by the couple. Police even patrolled the waterways to keep boat-bound gaggles of admirers well back from shore.

A large white tent proved to be an efficient way of keeping paparazzi-hired helicopters from a bird's eye view of the couple's special day.

Fisher, the Senators' hard-nosed winger who scored 25 goals and 28 assists last season, became engaged to Underwood on Dec. 20. Underwood told People Magazine back in March that with their busy schedules, "We'll be little nomads for a while" and that they planned to keep homes in Nashville and in Peterborough, Ontario.
