OSHAWA, Ont. - The Oshawa Generals are having great difficulty scoring without John Tavares.
On Thursday at the General Motors Centre, Thomas McCollum made 30 saves as the Brampton Battalion defeated the Generals 3-0 for their eighth straight win. The Generals have been shut out in two straight, while it was McCollum's third shutout in four games.
Michael Zador, who was part of the trade that sent Tavares to the London Knights, was excellent in goal for the Generals (21-22-1-4), making 46 saves to keep the game scoreless through two periods.
Zador was finally beaten by Anthony Peluso on a weak shot that found its way through his glove 2:20 into the third period.
Scott Tanski and Cody Hodgson also scored for the Battalion (32-14-1-1).
Hodgson's marker into an empty net extended his point-scoring streak to 18 games.
Both teams went 0-for-3 on the power play.
