Center Michael McLeod signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the New Jersey Devils on Friday.
McLeod, 18, was selected with the No. 12 pick in the 2016 NHL Draft. He was assigned to Mississauga of the Ontario Hockey League on Oct. 1 after scoring one goal in two preseason games. McLeod has three assists and five shots on goal in two OHL games this season.
Now in his third season with the Steelheads, McLeod (6-foot-2, 188 pound) had 21 goals and 40 assists in 57 games in 2015-16, and has 33 goals and 93 points in 122 career OHL games.
McLeod had one goal and two points to help Canada win a gold medal at the 2015 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.
