Meurs scores twice to lead the Whalers over the Sting 4-1

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Garrett Meurs scored two goals to lead the Plymouth Whalers over the Sarnia Sting, 4-1 on Saturday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Stefan Noesen and JT Miller also scored for Plymouth (21-8-3) while Mitchell Heard chipped in with two assists.

Taylor Carnevale scored the lone goal for Sarnia (17-9-5).

Matt Mahalak stopped 32 shots in goal for the win as Brandon Maxwell made 43 saves in defeat.

Mahalak played in place of Scott Wedgewood, who is away at Canada's World Junior selection camp.

The Whalers were 0-for-1 on the power play while the Sting scored once on six opportunities with the man advantage.
