Meurs scores twice as the Whalers crush the Frontenacs 8-3 @NHLdotcom

KINGSTON, Ont. - Garrett Meurs scored two goals as the Plymouth Whalers crushed the Kingston Frontenacs 8-3 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Ryan Hartman and Cody Payne both had a goal and two assists for the Whalers (4-3-3) while Stefan Noesen, Matt Mistele, Rickard Rakell, and Simon Karlsson scored a goal apiece.

The Frontenacs (5-4-0) received goals from Trevor Morbeck, Roland McKeown and Darcy Greenaway.

Matt Mahalak made 21 saves for the win as Mike Morrison allowed five goals on 26 shots before getting pulled in the second period.

Colin Furlong stopped 22-of-25 shots in relief.

Plymouth went 2-for-4 on the power play while Kingston scored once on four chances with the man advantage.
