Messier scores pair, U.S. Division-leading Americans beat Seattle 4-1 @NHLdotcom

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Jordan Messier scored a pair of goals and Brendan Shinnimin added three assists as the Tri-City Americans beat the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-1 in Western Hockey League action Wednesday night.

The win keeps the Americans (46-21-3, 95 points) in first place in the U.S. Division, two points in front of Everett and four ahead of Spokane.

The Thunderbirds (18-39-12, 48 points) could have thrown a monkey wrench into the race for the division title, but instead lost their 12th straight at Toyota Center.

Justin Feser and Kruise Reddick also scored for Tri-City, while Alex Pechurskiy had 26 saves.

Calvin Pickard, who finished with 42 saves for Seattle, has never beaten the Americans at Toyota Center. Tyler Alos had the Thunderbirds' lone goal.
