HALIFAX - Members of the 1976 Canada Cup team will gather at next month's IIHF World Hockey Championship for a reunion.
Eighteen members of that team have been inducted to the Hockey Hall of Fame and many will be in attendance on May 6 in Halifax. Coaching great Scotty Bowman will also be there.
The reunion will involve a luncheon that is open to the public and will include a ceremony honouring the team during the Canada-U.S. game in the evening.
"Our recent gold medal successes would not have been possible without the efforts of all those who blazed many difficult trails over the years, helping build Canada's incomparable international hockey resume," said Hockey Canada president Bob Nicholson. "It is vital that we continue to honour and celebrate our rich hockey traditions."
