Melnychuk, Ferland score quick goals as Wheat Kings rally to 4-2 victory over Broncos

BRANDON, Man. - Brodie Melnychuk and Mike Ferland scored goals 28 seconds apart in the second period to jump-start the Brandon Wheat Kings' 4-2 victory over the Swift Current Broncos in the Western Hockey League on Friday.

The goals by Melnychuk and Ferland put the Wheat Kings ahead 3-2 after the Broncos had taken a 2-0 first-period lead.

Jay Fehr and Brayden Schenn also scored for the Wheat Kings, who improved to 17-10-2 with their season-high fourth victory in a row. Aaron Lewadniuk and Scott Glennie each dished out three assists for Brandon.

Michael Stickland and Brad Hoban scored for the Broncos, who fell to 13-12-2.

Brandon netminder Jacob De Serres made 27 saves, while Morgan Clark stopped 26 shots for Swift Current.
