McRae scores two as London beats Erie 5-2 to take series opener @NHLdotcom

LONDON, Ont. - Philip McRae scored twice, including the game-winner, as the London Knights defeated the Erie Otters 5-2 on Friday night to take a 1-0 lead in their Ontario Hockey League Western Conference playoff series.

McRae's second goal broke a 2-2 tie six minutes and 27 seconds into the third period. John Tavares and Phil Varone had a goal and two assists each for London, while Michael Del Zotto added three assists and Nazem Kadri finished with a goal and an assist.

Shawn Szydlowski opened the scoring nine seconds into the game, while Greg McKegg had the other marker for the Otters.

Trevor Cann made 45 saves to earn the win. Erie netminder Jaroslav Janus stopped 32 shots.
