McKenzie addresses Callahan, Brodeur rumors

by Staff

TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie joined NHL Live to provide the latest on negotiations between Ryan Callahan and the New York Rangers and the trade rumors surrounding New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur.

"If you read between the lines on what Marty has said on a number of occasions lately, it sounds like he is open to the notion of waiving his no-trade clause," McKenzie said, "that he wants to play somewhere where he's got a chance to play more games and be a more important part of the team.

"I believe the Minnesota Wild are one of the teams that are interested. Whatever the Devils get back for Marty Brodeur, it's not going to be worth the blemish on the legacy of the franchise trading him away unless they're doing Marty a huge favor here, and he perceives it that way, and everybody in fandom perceives it that way as well."
