McFarland's shootout goal takes Sudbury past the Sarnia Sting @NHL

SARNIA, Ont. - John McFarland couldn't score in regulation, but he came through when it mattered.

McFarland netted the lone goal in the shootout as the Sudbury Wolves outlasted the Sarnia Sting 3-2 in Ontario Hockey League action Friday night. The win keeps Sudbury's season unblemished, while Sarnia failed to capitalize on the momentum of their first win of the season: a 4-1 win over Owen Sound last Saturday.

Matt Dias and Kyle Tarini scored for the Wolves (3-0-0-0), while Justin DiBenedetto and Daniel Lombardi replied for Sarnia (1-4-0-1).

Sudbury netminder Andrew Loverock stopped 37 shots and denied all three Sting shooters. Matt Heche made 32 saves for Sarnia.
