McDonough stamps win with late, third-period goal as Spirit down Sting 5-3

SAGINAW, Mich. - Ryan McDonough scored an insurance goal with less then seven minutes to go to help the Saginaw Spirit to a 5-3 win over the Owen Sound Attack in OHL action Saturday night. The Attack who were coming off a big win over Guelph the night before, fell behind 4-1 after 40 minutes before two third period goals by Wayne Simmonds and Matt Carter pulled them to with in one.

Patrick Asselin scored two goals and an assist and Jack Combs had one goal and two assist to lead the Spirit (2-1-1-0).

Wayne Simmonds and Marc Franchini each had a goal and an assist for the Attack (1-3-0-0).

Ryan Daniels was solid foe Saginaw stopping 31 shots while David Davenport was busy turning back 36 shots.
