McDavid's two assists help Oilers past Flames @NHLdotcom

Connor McDavid has two assists in his professional debut to help the Edmonton Oilers to a win against the Calgary Flames at Rexall Place.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first period on goals by the Oilers’ Andrew Miller and the Flames’ Oliver Kylington. Markus Granlund's shorthanded goal gave the Flames a 2-1 lead in the second.

McDavid set up Leon Draisaitl on the power play in the third period with 6:25 remaining to tie it 2-2 before Anton Lander's shorthanded goal a minute later gave Edmonton a 3-2 lead. Nail Yakupov then scored an empty-net goal assisted by McDavid.

Cam Talbot made 13 saves and allowed one goal in one period for the Oilers. Laurent Brossoit allowed one goal on nine shots in the final two periods.

Karri Ramo made 21 saves and allowed a goal for the Flames; Mason McDonald allowed two goals on seven shots.
