McDavid impresses Oilers' GM Chiarelli in scrimmage

by Staff

Connor McDavid unofficially had two goals and an assist in the Edmonton Oilers' scrimmage in Leduc, Alberta and impressed not only his teammates but general manager Peter Chiarelli as well.

"He makes a lot of plays, Chiarelli said after the game according to the Oilers website. "His play without the puck has been good. I've been very happy with him and that line looks very good, including Ted on the other wing. He makes good plays. He's fast and he's had some back-checking and he’s been good with that. Every time he has the puck he makes a good play."

Forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, who returned to practice Sunday after taking a puck to the face on Saturday, played against McDavid in the scrimmage.

"Obviously he's a great player," Nugent-Hopkins said. "Just the way he can go from zero to 100 within a couple of seconds is pretty impressive, and obviously he got a couple of goals today so it's good to see from him"
