McCauley scores twice as Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds upset Barrie 6-3 @NHL

The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds weren't intimidated when the Barrie Colts rolled into town.

Myles McCauley scored twice and added an assist as the Greyhounds upset the Colts 6-3 in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday night.

Barrie is currently in first place overall in the OHL with 77 points. The Colts are just ahead of the Windsor Spitfires with two games in hand.

Sault Ste. Marie is currently third in the West Division and eighth overall with 52 points.

Saturday night's game was the first time the two teams have met this season.

The Colts' stingy defence, second best in the OHL, buckled under the Greyhounds' attack. Barrie's Peter Di Salvo stopped 10 of 13 shots before giving way to Mavric Parks, who made 19 saves.

Elsewhere in the OHL it was: Sudbury 3 Brampton 2; Plymouth 4 Peterborough 2; Belleville 5 Saginaw 3; Kitchener 6 Erie 4 and Owen Sound 7 Sarnia 1.

At Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Vern Cooper had a goal and two assists for Sault Ste. Marie (24-20-4), while Brock Beukeboom, Carson Dubchak and Jacob Muzzin added goals.

Zac Rinaldo scored and had an assist for Barrie (38-7-1), while Bryan Cameron and Luke Pither also scored.


Wolves 3 Battalion 2

At Sudbury, Ont., Marcus Foligno scored back-to-back goals as the Wolves nipped Brampton.

Kain Allicock had the other goal for Sudbury (20-22-5).

Brad Albert and Sean Jones replied for Brampton (16-21-10).


Whalers 4 Petes 2

At Plymouth, Mich., Tyler Seguin continued his torrid scoring pace with a goal and three assists to lead the Whalers over Peterborough.

Robbie Czarnik, AJ Jenks and Joe Gaynor also scored for the Whalers (28-20-1).

Justin Larson and Jamie Doornbosch found the net for the Petes (23-22-3).


Bulls 5 Spirit 3

At Belleville, Ont., Luke Judson had a goal and two assists to lead the Bulls to a win over Saginaw.

Alex Aleardi scored and added a helper for Belleville (15-26-7), while Michael Curtis, Scott Howe and Kyle DeCoste also scored.

Ryan O'Connor, Jordan Skellett and Barry Sanderson provided the offence for Saginaw (22-19-5).


Rangers 6 Otters 4

At Kitchener, Ont., Jeremy Morin had two goals and two assists to lift the Rangers to a win over Erie.

Chris MacKinnon and Jeff Skinner both scored and added three assists for Kitchener (31-13-4), while Matthew Tipoff and Andrew Crescenzi also scored.

Tyler Hostetter, Andrew Yogan, Brett Cook and Greg McKegg scored for Erie (21-19-7).


Attack 7 Sting 1

At Owen Sound, Ont., Bobby Mignardi scored twice as the Attack hammered Sarnia.

Jesse Blacker and Joey Hishon both had a goal and two assists for Owen Sound (22-21-6), while Marcus Carroll, Ben Dubois and Mike Halmo had goals as well.

Joe Rogalski was the lone scorer for Sarnia (14-32-3).
