Mayer scores shootout winner as Mississauga outlasts the Generals 3-2 @NHL

OSHAWA, Ont. - Jordan Mayer scored the winner Sunday night as the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors defeated the Oshawa Generals 3-2 in a shootout in the Ontario Hockey League

Mayer beat Oshawa's Kevin Bailie in the third round of the shootout to end the game. The goal ruined a record-setting night for John Tavares. He scored twice for the Generals to become Oshawa's all-time leading scorer, topping the 25-year-old record set by Tony Tanti.

Michael Pelech and Ryan Lopes scored regulation goals for Mississauga (11-13-0-1), while Chris Carrozzi stopped 32 in the Majors' net.

Bailie made 34 saves for the Generals (13-11-0-4).
